Google is reportedly working on a new virtual reality gear.
According to news, Google has started to work on a new virtual reality gear. However, this is not the case, since the company’s virtual reality plans are bigger than what’s being portrayed by the Wall Street Journal. The company is working to come up with a standalone virtual reality gadget, which will be a breakthrough in the augmented reality world since it wouldn't require to be plugged in a smartphone or desktop to operate.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the device has not been announced by the company but "will include a screen, high-powered processors and outward-facing cameras". The gadget is being designed in a manner to offer consumers with a “middle ground” experience. It will be unjust to expect that the device will have similar capabilities like the HTC Vive or Oculus but will certainly enable consumers to take advantage “of untethered operation”.
This will act as an addition to the rumored Google Gear VR competitor that will be launched with a recent Android version that will eventually result in making virtual reality an integral component of the operating system. According to the Financial Times, the Nexus alike virtual reality gear will become a reference for other manufacturers who will try to adapt Android for a richer experience.
The company at this point of time is quite uncertain about the timeframe for the launch of the standalone gadget. As per one publication house, the product can surface this year while the other claims that the device is in its initial stage of development and might just be eliminated on the whole. Rumors are circulating where a startup based in San Mateo, California namely Movidius is supplying the technology that will assist the search engine giant in tracking the movements of a human head.
The company is taking major strides in the VR domain and is all keen to make a mark; Google at this point of time is facing immense competition from Sony, Samsung, Oculus and HTC. Soon there will be a time when every company will debut its virtual reality gear on the store shelves. No comment has been observed by the company on the launch of a VR gear; however, they have been approached by various publication houses for authentication.
The company is on the right track now and if all the rumors are true then its rivals needs to be beware of the competition. The VR industry has a lot of prospects for growth and competition which will get crucial in the coming times, considering the changing paradigms of the industry.
