Amazon customers have asked the CEO to take down Donald Trump collection from its online marketplace in a letter.
Amazon Inc. is the reigning monarch of American online shopping and it has been for the past few years. The company does not have a good name amongst the employees due to several cases and scandals however it surely is one of the most preferred destinations for the online shoppers. Amazon provides ultimate benefits to its loyal customers and vowed to make their money worth the service. In short, it values the online shoppers, which, is the key to success in the tough e-commerce sector.
However the same customers are now making things hard for the Chief Executive of the US online retail giant, Jeff Bezos. According to the news, it is believed that more than 13,000 customers have asked Jeff Bezos in a signed petition to cut ties with Donald Trump as soon as possible. A women’s rights group known as Ultra Violet came up with this petition which was specifically addressed to the Amazon CEO. The petition strictly opposed the selling of menswear from the Donald J. Trump Collection. As of now, Mr. Trump has eight items listed on the online marketplace for selling purposes.
The letter to Jeff Bezos stated, “As an Amazon customer, I am deeply disappointed that you have yet to sever your business relationship with Donald Trump. His hatred should have no place in the Amazon marketplace.”
Donald Trump announced his presidential candidacy last year and ever since then many people, companies, and media outlets have distance themselves from the billion dollar businessman. The hatred and the personality Donald Trump poses on the US citizens and the rest of the world is purely negative. Hence the customers are in no way in mood to be connected with the political figure.
Many companies and media outlets did change their way of business if it was linked to Donald Trump previously. For instance, Macy stopped the sales of Donald Trump collection from its stores and also pulled the clothing line from its shelves.
The petition urged Amazon CEO, “It's long past time for Amazon to follow Macy's lead, sever its ties with Trump, and stop profiting off of his brand of hate. He has encouraged violence at his rallies, mocked his opponent's wife, and even refused to denounce his campaign manager who was recently arrested for violently assaulting a female reporter.”
As of yet, the spokesmen for Amazon and the Trump’s campaign have not provided with the comments on this matter. It is believed that if Amazon decides to pull down Trump clothing line, it would still be making a lot of money from the same collection. This is because of the other sellers selling Donald Trump collection on the online marketplace. If a customer types and searches ‘Trump’ on Amazon website then more than 44,600 searches would come. Out of these searches, nearly 15 percent are Amazon Prime eligible as well.
