Amazon Japan has finally lifted the restriction on its shipping policy of video games to abroad countries.
Amazon Inc. is the world’s biggest retailer and the reigning monarch of American online shipping. The company is expanded all across the globe and it is considered as one of the most used online marketplaces apart from its domestic region. The online retailer is already the leader in the North America region but it has a huge market share in the German and Japanese market as well. Customers who are fans of Japanese media love to exaggerate about the Japanese arm of the online retailer Amazon.co.jp.
Throughout the year, the Seattle-based firm makes sure that it keeps its Japan marketplace fully stocked with the items people love there such as anime, J-pop CDs/DVDs, Manga, and light novels etc. All of these items are being sold in Japan at market price only and Amazon is not charging any additional special importer markups on the products. The online marketplace has almost everything a Japanese consumer would need to call Amazon Japan a one-stop shop for all entertainment needs and offerings. There is one thing where it lacks – video games.
Initially, Amazon Japan easily took orders and shipped Blu-rays, books, CDs, and DVDs all over the world but it did not allow users to place orders for the video games on the online marketplace with a delivery address outside the region. This frustrated the fans of Japanese gamers and anime lovers.
However, it is in the past now. The ecommerce company did not announce the news itself but Amazon.co.jp is now accepting video games order with a delivery address outside of the country. A Twitter user and hardcore gamer ‘@HadlerER’ noticed this change in the online marketplace and made it public.
The user clarified that this in no way is a bug or anything which is allowing people to order and ship video games from Amazon Japan to international address, nor the company has placed them in some wrong category in the database. It seems that it has finally lifted its restrictions on shipping videogames to international regions as well.
The move does not mean that everything listed on the platform is available to be shipped to international addresses. As of now, this is only valid for the video games and only those video games that are listed and sold by Amazon Japan.
Japan Today believes that if this new shipping policy stays, Amazon Japan can make a massive change in the import gaming marketplace of the region.
