Twitter comes up with a new live map feature on Periscope.
Twitter Inc. has gone beyond leaps and bounds to make its ‘Periscope app’, accessible to live maps and location features. This is followed by the update on Thursday regarding the live streaming video feed mentioned on their micro blog. Apart from this, the new mapping feature will allow the app users to access the world map and navigate from one location to another.
Users will have the liberty to browse several video streams from locations stretching across the globe. This can be done through zooming or searching various countries, regions, cities, small town on the map view. In addition, live broadcast of various regions can also be selected.
The map caters to the radius of a block. Those users that are streaming will be able to see their broadcast appearing automatically as soon as they enable the sharing of locations on the app.
In order to attract a relatively wider audience, the application is now available in 29 different languages. Apart from posting a live broadcast on the social microblogging platform, the new update allows users to come up with replies instantly and simultaneously as they link a broadcast to replay.
Irrespective of how Periscope has become popular in a short span of time, there are still several concerns where many are just skeptical about this application. The issue that the media has highlighted several times is regarding the broadcast privacy. For instance, Game of Thrones is one of those series that is regarded as the most illegally downloaded show. Initially, when the game was leaked, nobody really bothered but when the episode was uploaded on Periscope, it actually aroused concerns.
Apart from this, the much-anticipated pay per view boxing match event occurred recently where Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao took the ring recently. The fight was uploaded on Twitter’s Periscope live. This feature offered by the app is extremely attractive for consumers but can dent the business of large organizations. Users welcomed the company’s initiative but organizations that are solely relying on money through distribution are hampered by such initiatives.
Piracy has been a major concern for Periscope. This platform has been successful in overtaking LinkedIn Corp., which was initially considered as the most successful network in terms of business interaction. However, now Twitter wishes to establish the position of this brand for people related to sales and needs to take corporate privacy concerns in consideration as it can be a tough issue to deal.
Twitter, the social media network, is in the right direction but needs to overcome these issues so that the skepticism is overruled.
